Make Happy Tummies

One in three children in Canada arrive at school hungry.
Not distracted. Not unprepared. Hungry.

Make Happy Tummies™ is a community-powered movement nourishing children across Canada. Today, it supports more than 3,000 school breakfast programs, helping one in three children who arrive at school hungry* start each day with the nutritious meals they need to learn, grow, and shine.

And because 100% of every donation stays local, your gift fills plates—and futures—right in your own community.

This Giving Tuesday, your kindness can turn hunger into happiness and possibility. Your gift to Make Happy Tummies™ nourishes local students, fueling their confidence, joy, and potential.

As a parent, I want to share how much the Make Happy Tummies campaign has meant to our family.  With the rising cost of food, mornings can sometimes feel overwhelming.  Knowing that my child can start the day with a healthy breakfast at school without any judgment or barriers has lifted a huge weight off our shoulders.

My child’s school has always struggled a bit with fundraising to generate the needed funds to purchase healthy food, and the Make Happy Tummies Campaign has been essential in this regard.  The Make Happy Tummies campaign has allowed my child, and presumably other children in similar situations, to be more focused, more energetic, and, honestly, probably a whole lot more excited to go to school with a filling and nourishing meal in their tummy.

The support from the Make Happy Tummies campaigns has made and continues to make a tremendous difference in our school community. Thanks to these contributions, we can ensure that every student is offered a healthy snack, helping fill their tummies, ease hunger, and keep them focused on learning. Many parents and external corporations don’t always realize the level of need that exists within their local schools. For some students, the snacks provided through these programs are truly essential. The impact goes far beyond nutrition; it builds confidence, improves focus, and helps every child feel cared for and ready to learn. We are deeply grateful for the generosity and partnership that make this possible. These programs don’t just fill plates; they fill hearts and strengthen our entire community.

We are a self-contained special needs school, and many of our students/families are underprivileged. Our ability to provide healthy snacks and a full breakfast each morning has had a significant positive impact on our students’ success. In many cases, our meal and snack provision is the most nutritious meal students eat in any given day. Our “volunteers” are my staff and students who run the program daily as part of their life skills curriculum. We are extremely grateful for this funding!
