New record, new hopes, same Cancer Bats.
On the weekend that hometown-heroes, Cancer Bats, came to town to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their sophomore album, Hail Destroyer, they surprised fans by releasing a brand new record, The Spark That Moves. With a stretch of shows on the horizon, and plenty of rehearsal time to dust off the engine, the boys knew they had to make their return something special. And boy, did they ever!
When celebrating an album like Hail Destroyer, what better way to do it than at Lee’s Palace? Pretty well the heart of the punk scene in Toronto, it was the perfect backdrop for Cancer Bats on their big weekend. On top of playing the album in its entirety, Cancer Bats also busted out some fan favourites, like “Pneumonia Hawk”, “French Immersion”, and even their cover of the Beastie Boys’ classic, “Sabotage”. It was epic to say the least. With the new album, brings new ambitions, and things are only looking up for the little band that could!
