NDP incumbent candidate Rachel Blaney is projected to once again win in the riding of North Island–Powell River.

It was a close race Monday night with the riding being called for Blaney early Tuesday morning.

She captured 38.9 per cent of the vote, with Conservative Shelley Downey in second with 36.3 per cent and Liberal Jennifer Grenz in third with 13.1 per cent.

Blaney took this seat for a second term in 2019, garnering 37.9 per cent of the vote and beating Downey and the Greens’ Mark de Bruijn.

This is one of the few ridings in Canada without a road connecting the communities.
