Veteran Conservative MP Ed Fast has been re-elected in Abbotsford, Global News projects.
With 35 of 162 polls reporting as of 9 p.m., Fast led Liberal candidate Navreen Gill by more than 24 per cent. New Democrat Dharmasena Yakandawela trailed in a distant third.
The 2021 election victory marks Fast’s sixth win in the riding.
He was first elected in 2006, and in 2019, was elected with a substantial 51.5 per cent of the vote.
Fast served in various roles in the Stephen Harper cabinet, including as minister of international trade.
Abbotsford is located in just outside Metro Vancouver in the Fraser Valley and borders on the U.S.
