Here’s are 3 stories from the world of modern rock today:
- The Grammy Awards were handed out last night in LA and as usual the pop and hip hop artists were where the spotlight shone – but we did see some of our rock artists taking the hardware home. Greta Van Fleet won “Best Rock Album” for “The Fires” and Beck took home “Best Alternative Music Album” for “Colors”. The award for “Best Rock Song” goes to St. Vincent for “Masseducation” and Chris Cornell grabbed “Best Rock Performance” for “When Bad Does Good” posthumously. His daughter Toni and son Christopher accepted the award for their father.
2. Post Malone and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed a medley of “Stay,” “Rockstar” and the Red Hot Chili Peppers song “Dark Necessities.” Malone started his set with an emotional acoustic performance of “Stay.” He then lightened the mood with a rendition of “Rockstar” before transitioning into his collab with the Chili Peppers. Malone played guitar with the band for “Dark Necessities” and sang backing vocals.
3. Finally it was announced this morning and rock legends The Rolling Stones were coming to Canada for one night only. 102.1 The Edge welcomes The Rolling Stones happening Saturday, June 29th at Burls Creek Event Grounds. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, February 15th at 10am
