Today in rock, take a stroll down memory lane with Ozzy Osbourne, check out Greta Van Fleet on SNL, and Foo Fighters share a parody video ahead of the Super Bowl.
- Foo Fighters released a pre-Super Bowl 1970s-inspired spoof video directed by Dave Grohl. The clip features noted NFL announcers and promotes their “Super Saturday Night” performance in Atlanta on Saturday, February 2nd – the day before the big game. In the video, the band suit up in full football gear as the San Fernando Jackalopes.
The Foos plan to stream the pre-Super Bowl show via Twitter at @directtv and on DirecTV’s Audience channel, starting at 11:00 p.m. ET. Special guests will be Run The Jewels.
2. Greta Van Fleet appeared over the weekend as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
The band has also spoken out again regarding constant comparisons between them and Led Zeppelin in a new interview with Rolling Stone saying “Obviously we hear the similarity. That’s one of the influences of ours. But at this point it’s like, ‘Okay, we’ve acknowledged that. Let’s move on.'”
3. Classic rock legend Ozzy Osbourne is trending today as he celebrates the 37th anniversary of the infamous concert where he bit the head off of a bat on stage. He’s marked the anniversary of the infamous incident in 1982 by releasing a toy bat that, rather fittingly, comes with a detachable head.
