The suspects, who cannot be identified under the Criminal Justice Act, have been charged with robbery and weapons dangerous.

Police Const. Ryan Anderson told media in an update Thursday afternoon that multiple people contacted the police around 11:30 a.m. saying they were being chased by men with guns.

Anderson said a knife and two other weapons were located, with one being identified as a replica firearm. He confirmed there were no injuries and the high school was no longer under lockdown.

He said police followed the group off school grounds, but the seven arrests made were on school property. It was unclear if the suspects were students, but Anderson does not believe the incident was connected to any outstanding cases.

Two nearby elementary schools, Chris Hadfield Public School and St. Peter’s Elementary School, were placed under a hold and secure, but it has since been lifted.
