Halton Regional Police say six young male suspects have been charged following today’s lockdown at a Milton high school.
Police say they received a call at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, about a foot chase that began behind Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School and continued through a nearby sports park.
They’d been told that a group of men armed with a gun were pursuing another group of individuals.
It is not known whether those who’ve been charged are students at the school, which was placed under lockdown for about two and a half hours.
Police also confirm that they’ve recovered one knife and two firearms, at least one of which is a replica.
Two elementary schools were also placed under a “hold and secure” for a time during the investigation.
Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School on Main Street East was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon, after a reported threat.
Nearby schools Chris Hadfield Public school and St. Peter Catholic Elementary School were briefly placed on hold and secure, but police say those orders have since been lifted.
Police add that all students and staff at the three Milton schools are safe at this time.
