‘Child's Play’ TV series will see Chucky terrorizing the small screen

Everybody’s favourite killer doll could be making it to the small screen soon. This week Bloody Disgusting broke the news that Child’s Play writer Don Mancini is working with franchise producer David Kirschner on a Chucky themed television series. According to Mancini the show is “deliberately set up at (the) end of the last movie,” and that the “tone is dark and disturbing.” The series will run under the name Child’s Play, and Chucky will be voiced by Brad Dourif.

“We plan to use Child’s Play in the title,” Mancini said. “We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.”

Kirschner said, “I’m incredibly excited about the series and to explore a world in which we’ve never done before.” Further going on to state that “Don has taken the franchise in a wonderfully frightening direction,” adding, “He seems to outdo himself every time.”

The eight-part series will feature hour long episodes that take a step back into the darker roots of the character. According to Kirschner the television adaptation will be a continuation of the series, and not a reboot. No word yet on which network will host the series.
