1. Arcade Fire “Everything Now”
I don’t want to like Arcade Fire. When I think of pretentious, Arcade Fire tends to be the band that I think of. I did not want to like “Everything Now” at all! But oh God, it got in there. It got into my brain and I love it! Like, within a week of playing this song for the first time, every time it came on, I’d be like, “You know what guys, I really like this song”, to the point where my producer Alex had to look at me and be like, “You said that like half an hour ago when we played it last time.” So yes, “Everything Now” Arcade Fire, I really like it, okay? It’s a really good song.
2. Queens Of The Stone Age “The Way You Used To Do”
I love Queens Of The Stone Age, always have. It’s just a shame the way the year ended for them as a band with Josh Homme making a big ass of himself. At least he owned it? And I say that with a question mark at the end because it still doesn’t like make up for what the guy did. You just don’t kick people! You don’t kick people. You don’t do it. Like my children know not to do that. It’s a shame because “The Way You Used To Do” is great. When I think about Josh Homme, I always do think of my kids because I interviewed him in the afternoon the day my second born was…born. And he gave me some great dad advice. Like if you’re ever stressed out or you’re ever nervous, just go slow. Maybe he should have taken some of his own advice while performing in L.A. a few weeks ago. Then maybe we wouldn’t even have to bring this up.
3. The Sheepdogs “I’ve Got A Hole Where My Heart Should Be”
The Sheepdogs’ “I’ve Got A Hole Where My Heart Should Be”…c’mon! I love The Sheepdogs and I’m glad to see they’re continuing to do new stuff. “I’ve Got A Hole Where My Heart Should Be” has that classic Sheepdogs sound that I love, and the thing is that I think it’s because I’ve seen them live so many times. Whenever I hear them perform any song, like when I hear it on the radio, all I think about is, “this song would sound great live” and I envision them playing it live too. Love ’em, love ’em! Love Ewan’s voice, one of the best voices in music today.
